Having fun at the safari train ride: Alberta Low, scholarship applicants Tiff Keawe and Bianca Minns and Maydeen Maika

There’s Always Something Happening at Pearlridge Center!

This summer, Pearlridge Center is being overrun by Dinosaurs! This free educational program features robotic life-sized dinosaur models, hands-on activities and a safari train ride ($3) for children under 48” tall. Dinosaurs! opened June 18 and will run through August 15, 2010.

For the Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club, this is an opportunity to raise money for our scholarship fund. Volunteers are needed to staff the safari train ride and your kokua is needed everyday, from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm. If you are able to kokua, please call our project manager, Charlie Kapua at 479-3263. All proceeds from this fundraiser go towards the Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club scholarship fund.

If you or a family member has received a scholarship from the club, you already know how important these funds are for your college expenses. For the rest of us, it is our kuleana to kokua and malama these students as they continue their education beyond high school. This is the pono thing for all of us to do together.

E hele mai kakou! Come and join your fellow Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club members at the Pearlridge Center Dinosaurs! safari train!

Lunalilo Home B-I-N-G-O: Club members visited Lunalilo Home in Hawai'i Kai on Saturday, April 24th. Lunalilo Home residents enjoyed a fun morning of exciting bingo, old fashioned kanikapila and lively hula, all provided by our talented club members. The residents especially enjoyed the prizes the club provided for winners of bingo - we were able to give everyone who participated a prize, and then some! Mahalo to those who donated prize items; also mahalo to those who came out to Lunalilo Home to share their time and talents, and a big mahalo nui to Maydeen Maika for organizing this activity.
